Betsy's Story: Winning the Battle Against Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia
Betsy, wife and mother of two young girls, went to the doctor in 2005 because of a painful rash that wouldn't go away. She never expected to hear the word cancer. Her diagnosis was chronic myelogenous leukemia in blast crisis -- a serious form of advanced leukemia. Her doctor at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview told her that the only treatment that held promise was a blood or marrow transplant. Although she didn't have a sibling match, a young man in Germany was a match and agreed to provide peripheral stem cells for Betsy's transplant. (Read more about peripheral blood stem cell donation .) Today, Betsy's health is restored and she says she is grateful for every day. Watch her story below.
